L'appartamento Crichton del National Trust Scotland

Its all about the location. Positive: Location is fantastic. We got the tram from airport to Princes St and walked up past National Museum up the steps and you will be pretty close then. Thankfully they send you a video to help you find the entrance as its a little tricky to just depend on google maps to get you to the door. You are right in the middle of olde town there is so so much to see and do within such short walking distances, you will never be bored. We only stayed for 3 nights and wished we had 7 more to do and see everything! The apartment itself is cute and clean with everything you need for your stay, particular mention to the bathroom/shower facilities, piping hot water and plenty of it any time you needed it. Negative: They are absolutely NOT joking when they tell you to be prepared for some exertion to get up to the room as Crichton is on the 4th floor. If you struggle with mobility at all this is not the place for you. The spiral stair case is looonnnggg and steep and lugging my 10kg case up them to the room was hard going. Of course we were warned about this when booking so I am not complaining just putting it in here so people can know that they are not over exaggerating or overly stating something just to be cautious. If you are a light sleeper I highly recommend bringing an eye mask and ear plugs, the bedroom has this tiny window that lets in a huge amount of light, and the blind on larger window has light coming in at the sides, I am used to complete black out to sleep so this was a real struggle for me. Ear plugs because pigeons live on the roof or next to the windows and they can cause some noises during the night, it might not impact most people but I sleep light so it bothered me. The mattress did leave a little to be desired, pretty soft and used and potentially in need of an upgrade in complete honesty.

Excellent apartment Positive: Lovely apartment, the location is superb and the layout is great. Pub and cafe literally outside main door, everything else a few steps away. Negative: The stairs! Ok for us but just a warning for others if you have issues with stairs, they are very steep and feel like they aren't going to end 🤣. Book a lower apartment.
